Truth

Hi there,

Another single from Fearless has been released on iTunes, "You Belong With Me." Taylor is awesome.

Here's the song (I'm sorry this post is so short, my heart's not into writing much today, sorry), but I should mention that the title and the second verse are not mine. The words were given me, and all I did was make them rhyme.

There's nothing more to say.

Truth

so that's it then, it's all been said
all my tears dried up and counted
your explanation has been heard
so now we don't say another word

CHORUS:
but if you'd let me, I would say
you think it all went your way
but it was my victory, seeing you look at me
you drew me in and I couldn't breathe
so it's fitting now, that I'm walking in the rain
cause the last time I did, I was calling your name

you know the horror of the words
those that should never be heard
there's no easy way for them to be said
and so they fall, fall like lead

CHORUS:
but if you'd let me, I would say
you think it all went your way
but it was my victory, seeing you look at me
you drew me in and I couldn't breathe
so it's fitting now that I'm walking in the rain
cause the last time I did, I was calling your name

(softly)
it's my victory, cause you looked at me
you drew me in and I couldn't breathe
(crescendo)
but now I'm walking in the rain
hoping you'll hear me, calling your name
and I wanna go back to all those times
it was just you and me and your eyes and mine
but have it your way
there's nothing for me to say

CHORUS:
but if you'd let me, I'd say this
you think it went the way you planned it
but it was my victory, having you look at me
you drew me in and I couldn't breathe
so it's fitting now that I'm walking in the rain
cause the last time I did, I was calling your name

oh, I've got plenty to say but nothing you wanna hear...

Much love, and thank you for the musik!

This song is definitely one of my favorites. The emotion is so raw and real; it gave me chills.

The rhymes are pretty near-perfect, and the way that you worded the verses and the chorus and bridge are impeccable. You chose exactly the right words to get the meaning across, which is amazing.

"there's nothing for me to say" kind of gives the song a tone of finality, which to me is both great and terrible. (Yes, cliche, I know) That's the feeling that I'm getting--the fact that you want to give up, that you're done and you want to forget, but the real half of you, your heart says that you've got to keep trying and dreaming and hoping.

Everyone goes through those feelings, which is why I think that this song is so moving.

Well done.

Hey.

Aren’t you proud of me? I’m finally replying to your post in a timely manner? Well, you know me and punctuality. We fit so well together. Just like Rose and teaching, yeah?

I really don’t think I can compliment you as well as justme did. If that person wrote a class on comment writing, I’d be all over that. This song is an excellent addition to your already incredible repertoire (a word with French roots, just like your middle name. Excuse my weirdness.) Wow. What a poignant song. You’re got this amazing way of expressing ideas. Your songs bleed emotion. They really do. There are so many things I love about this song. I don’t know if it’s just me, but absolutely love that you brought up the rain. It conveys the kind of sadness that makes this song so powerful. It’s got the insult-to-injury-because-I’ve-been-hurt-and-now-I’m-getting-wet idea. And when I was young, I used to think that it rained because the sky was crying. (And I still do. Environmental science ain’t got nothing on me.) And there’s crying in this song too! It all fits!

The chorus in this song is amazing. It works with the song so well. And the simile “fall like lead” is absolutely brilliant. You know those little things you remember when you think about a really good song you haven’t listened to in a while? That’s one of those.

I know t his song regresses to times when everything was better (“wanna go back to all of those times”), but I think that just the presence of that idea brings up the fact that we all need to move along. Ant that, I think, is really important.

Me likie.

Thank you for the Musik.

p.s. There was a full moon today. It was absolutely breathtaking. Did your inner beast emerge? ;)
